Environment Page

We specialise in using timbers selected for their qualities of durability, strength and performance; giving our products their timeless and classic appeal. Building in timber carries important environmental responsibilities, and when properly managed is far preferable to the use of aluminium or petrochemical-based plastics.

Clifton Joinery is committed to supporting the responsible management of the world’s timber resources by promoting the trade in timber and timber products from well-managed forests and by the use of sustainable or innovative wood such as Red Grandis and Accoya.

Using in-house developed software, cutting edge timber machining technology and our experience of working with hardwoods for over two decades, we have optimised the utilisation of timber sections reducing the amount of offcuts and rejects and therefore the amount of waste generated by the joinery process. Recycling is also a key part of our waste management policy. It is important to recycle as it takes considerably less energy to recycle an existing product than to source or make one from new. Just some examples of this policy are our timber shavings and off cuts are used to generate heat for our paint plant and factory, over spray from our automated spray plant is filtered and re-used and wherever possible we recycle product packaging, waste paper and printer cartridges.

In addition, this website is powered by "Green Hosting" by 1&1 that uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).

These are just some examples of our continuing commitment to the environment.
